Your overall awesomeness, tenacity, personality, attitude are not defined by numbers.
And I want you to know that today.
You are not the size of your clothes.
You are not the weight you see in the scales every morning.
You are not the size of your hips, glutes, chest and waist.
You are not the percentage of your body fat.
You are not the weight you carry on your squats.
You are not the time it takes for you to complete a 10km run.
Society has led us to believe that we should all have a ‘perfect’ body image and a ‘perfect’ size. But what’s perfect when everyone in this world is different?
Runway models will be cut off from the season if they do not comply to the required measurements. Heck, even TV shows like The Biggest Loser focuses on the percentage of body weight lost in determining who wins the grand prize. Brutal but true, and since young, we’ve probably been exposed to this kind of judgement, competition and rankings.
But today, I proclaim with all my heart and soul that you are not a number. And numbers do not define you at all.
Just because you’re obese does not mean you get a different treatment. If you’re obese, and you’re trying to work things out one step at a time, you are one amazing person.
Just because you weighed the same as you did last week doesn’t mean your whole day should be ruined. If you weighed the same as you did last week, but you’re training hard and eating well and always staying positive, you are one amazing person.
Just because you have lost 20 kilos does not mean you get to rule the world. If you’ve lost 20 kilos, great. Celebrate it but be humble. Spread the awareness of fitness and health. You are one amazing person.
Self-beauty, self-worth and how you are as a person should be a reflection of what you do every single day and how you are trying to be the best version of yourself, not by your dress size.
How awesome you are goes beyond how your body looks.
How awesome you are is how happy you feel, how much you value life every single day, and how much you adore heartbreaks and sunshines all the same.
How awesome you are is how you appreciate the little things in life, like the moisture of the cold winter wind brushing through your locks.
How awesome you are is how you handle things with sheer patience when things are not going your way.
How awesome you are is how you try to get out of your comfort zone, to experience new things with passion and to make new memories.
How awesome you are is what you bring forwards into the world and what you’re doing to make this world a better place every single day.
My sincerest hope for you today is this — The next time you don’t see results on the scale, in the weights room or when you’re dressing up every single day, think of all the awesome person you are beyond the numbers.
You’re more beautiful than all that, and behind that beautiful person is a story waiting to inspire others.
Go and make a difference this long weekend. I’m counting on you, Pretty Awesomes.
Happy Easter to all celebrating. :)
