Fitness: The PAF Principle
Fitness is about creating a balance. Finding the midpoint. Making it work into your life commitments and issues. And it should be something that makes you happy.
The only way you can stick to a fitness program is by doing things you love. Not the things other people think is right for you.
It’s also a lifestyle. So to me fitness is a balanced lifestyle. I emphasise this a lot into my clients, and I will emphasise this as we spend our time together on this website. I don’t believe in having too much of fitness and leave time for your family behind. If you work crazy hours, you work crazy hours, but you find time in your crazy hours to make room for fitness. If you’re a mum, drive your kids to soccer training first and then find time for fitness. It works for me. You just gotta find the right balance.
Exercise: The PAF Principle
I exercise because it’s fun. It makes me happy and I don’t do it because I have to. I do it because I love to. I used to run a lot, marathons and all, but I somehow figured that it didn’t make me happy so I stopped. You don’t have to run to lose weight or get fitter. There’s so many other things out there you can do besides running. Yoga, CrossFit, recreational cycling, throwing football with your kids on Sunday. Whatever that gets your heart rate up, that’s exercise to me. Of course, if you want to lose weight, you probably need more exercise than just playing with your kids. I’m just saying that you don’t have to something you don’t like to get that exercise as part of your life.
Nutrition: The PAF Principle
Like fitness, nutrition to me is also about creating and finding the balance. It is also the most important part of any health and fitness goals, equating to about 90% of your successes.
When I was losing weight three years ago, I used to count calories. I used to be so hard on how much calories I took in, and how much calories I expended. It worked, yes it’s probably one big reason why I lost all that weight but did it last? Nope.
At PAF, we practice portion control and instilling healthy habits that lasts a lifetime.
If you can’t do that diet for the rest of your life, then you shouldn’t even do it.
Mindset: The PAF Principle
Now I’ll be very honest here, I’m a big believer of having a positive mental attitude when it comes to everything in life. Especially in fitness. Especially when you really want to lose weight. Especially when you really want to finish that 42kms in under 5 hours.
If you think you can or can’t, you are right.
The first step into any successful stories is having the right mind and mental position to do it. If you’re not into it in the first place, it will not happen. I’m all for positivity here and as we spend more days together, I’ll help you set a positive mindset to achieve just about anything you want. Let’s make a change together. Let’s be Pretty Awesome.
WHAT PRETTY AWESOME FITNESS IS NOT?
Before we go any deeper, let’s get rid of some very popular myths and bullsh*t there is in this fitness industry.
1. Changing your life around in fitness and happiness is NOT easy and it takes a lot of hardwork.
Nothing in life comes easy. If you took years to put on those weight, it’ll take you some time to get rid of it. Many fitness marketers and some products try to tell you otherwise. Why? Because they’re trying to make money of you, when you’re in the most vulnerable position. I’m here to tell you the truth: you will not get “flat abs” or “toned arms” in 30 days. And neither will you feel good by replacing meals with shakes. And that Ab Circle Pro you ordered at 2am after having pizza and beer will not change your lifestyle. I’ll do my best to guide you and give you the right information that you need but it’s up to you to take action.
2. Changing your life around in fitness and happiness does NOT happen overnight.
I don’t live, teach, coach or believe in get-fit fast schemes. Just like a get-rich fast is complete crap, this is all the same. I took 8 months to lose 20 kilos, but I sacrificed so much things to get there — my happiness was one of them. I counted calories and restricted myself so much that once I lost all that weight, I was thrown into the deep end not knowing what to do. 8 months is a long time, but in the grand scheme of thing, fitness and happiness is a lifelong process. You should be doing it for the rest of your life.
3. Changing your life around in fitness and happiness is NOT impossible.
Yes it is not easy and yes it takes time but it is achievable. I succeeded and over the last 4 years I’ve worked with people who has seen real awesome results. While it is a combination of fitness, nutrition and mindset, it is possible to be fit and happy and I will show you how you can.
