“If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.” — Lemony Snicket
One of those quotes that resonates with me quite deeply.
Ever since I started working for myself in November 2013, I’ve been pushing myself to step out of my comfort zone and get things rolling. One of them is to put my ideas into reality. And so far, thanks to all of you reading this, I’ve been able to get that into my repertoire every single day. The best thing is? I am constantly learning every single day about every thing — how to fix a sore back, running a marathon, creating happiness, developing my own websites, codings, HTML, crafting my business and so on. But you know what is the most important thing I’ve learned about all this?
We never ever ever stop learning.
With great power comes great responsibility.
The more knowledge we acquire, which is a power in itself, the more responsible we are in constantly educating ourselves to make sure we know more.
The good news is, learning will eventually come naturally. If we seek to better ourselves consciously, over time we will be wanting to learn more even without us realising it. It’s like a drug, except that it is a good kind of drug and one that is pretty much mandatory in our lives.
With that, I am really excited to announce some new developments that has been going on with Pretty Awesome Fitness and I shall dedicate this post to my learnings, thirst for learning and hopefully inspire you to learn.
New layout, design and colours
Don’t you see it? Wait. Isn’t it obvious enough? :)
I will do more front squats if it’s not obvious enough!
I spent every single waking hour that I can afford over the past week to redesign PAF to suit the needs and goals of this website. The first and original layout was quite simple, and it is something I actually bought of themeforest.com. It was minimal and it got the job done when it comes to blogging and sharing content. But I wanted more. I was hungry for more. And here we are today, three and a half months forward with a completely new homepage, design and colours.
PAF is currently running on the Genesis Framework (affiliate link, which means I get a free back massage if you click on that ;)). If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you should really check out StudioPress and every single amazing things they have to offer. I discovered Genesis while I was building my other Singapore site and, with the help of a good friend of mine, picked up some basic codings and went on to create this layout.
My main goal while creating this new layout for PAF is to make sure you and all my readers and visitors have a good experience while being in it. I strongly believe that any service and business will gain an edge if they put customers ahead of anything else. As such, I want to make sure that it is easy to navigate and it looks great on any devices — yes it is mobile responsive!
Judging from my analytics, most of my readers are accessing posts and content via their mobile phones and tablets! Even Facebook is putting their mobile system as a top priority. The future of computing is really in the palm of your hands. Now if you’re running a business and you haven’t got this sorted out, go and look into it. Trust me, it’s worth it.
Another big change that I had to put forward was the PAF logo. If you haven’t realise it already, the logo went from this…
The purpose for the change is really to create brand awareness behind all of my businesses. Which means, everything that I create from here on out will have the same typography, same colours and same sort of vibe.
Although I still find the old logo a little bit more aesthetically pleasing, I am happy with the new one. If you’re having an itch and want to help me out with a better version of this new one, let me know. :)
Consistent ‘feel’ on all social media sites
Go on PAF’s Facebook page.
Now go on Twitter.
What do you think? Does it feel the same? Does it feel like it’s from the same person without even looking at the name? I hope it does!
With that, I am hoping to be more engaging on all these three sites as part of my vision in growing my brand. I’m no social media marketing expert and I am seriously learning as I go, just like I am with developing and coding but it is only through learning can we actually grow so I’m down for that.
Updated subscribers only email content
If there’s one thing that I truly and genuinely cherish, apart from the blog itself, are my subscribers. They are a bunch of awesome people that took the hassle to sign up for my newsletter so I better take good care of them. Now because of that, I regularly send out exclusive content that is not available on the site, something that I know can help them in fitness, health, nutrition, motivation and so on. When I started off three and a half months ago, I have 7 as part of my exclusive series. I’ve just added 5 and will be adding two more by this weekend! :)
This is great as it can last me for a few more months ahead before I need to update them again and I reckon this is an excellent achievement upon myself because I’ve been putting it off for so long!
If you haven’t subscribed to the Pretty Awesome Fitness Newsletter, this is probably the best time for you to do so. I don’t just send blog updates, I send awesome content that only my subscribers receive and I’ve had some great feedback from them so sign up for free today using the form at the bottom of this post and to the right of where you are now. :)
New free workouts and recipes section and updated content all around
I know, I sometimes tend to skew a little bit more towards the self-improvement part of things. Can’t blame me who believes improving oneself and getting to where you want to be in your health and fitness begins up there where your brain is! That is why I’ve included a new little section of this site that delivers free workouts and recipes that you can try and share.
When it comes to workouts, I like to keep it simple. Body weight workouts are awesome and the best workouts are the ones you can do pretty much anywhere in the world even if you’re travelling. If you need ideas you can head over to the PAF Freebies page. I will constantly add new ones day by day.
Now lastly and perhaps the most biggest announcement that I have today is…
Launch of Pretty Awesome Coaching
I’ve been working tirelessly to get the backbone of this running, to come up with content and to make sure I have systems in place that puts my clients first before anything else. I am now happy to announce that Pretty Awesome Coaching is ready to be launched on the 24th of March 2014!
Now before you run away and think that this is some automatic course or an eBook, it is not. I am physically ‘virtually’ taking you by the hand and help you get awesome results one-on-one, which means as a Coaching client you will get my fullest attention.
It is not just a one time thing where you call me on Skype and then I go on to write you a nutrition and fitness plan and you go on to the gym doing your own things. It’s nothing like that! In fact, when you apply for the call, you have to complete 5 tasks even before you get to see me. It’ll take me at least a few calls before I can get to know you and before I can write you a proper program based on your problems, needs and goals.
Most importantly, you won’t just be sleepwalking and following my instructions, you will be learning how to live healthier, fitter, and happier with skills that you can apply in the real world even after our coaching ends.
In a nutshell, I will be coaching AND teaching AND training you in fitness, health and mindset, and habit-building. Most trainers focus on the outcome and then leave you to figure out how to get there yourself, I focus on delivering the best experience in getting you to where you want to be both in health and in your life.
My aim is to help real people who values the term education and not someone who is after a quick fix and only want to lose that last 5 kilos. It does not work that way and it is truly against my principles. As part of my coaching, you will be getting weekly Skype calls with action plans, not just a call with no direction. There will be some homework for you to do before each call and I will guide you through this and take you by the hand.
I am still finalising my packages and products but as a loyal reader of PAF, I am taking initial pre-launch appointments for a FREE 30-min Skype Consultation! There’s no risk to this, and you don’t even need to purchase coaching if you don’t feel like it’s suitable for you. All I’m putting forward is an opportunity for you to learn because I’m crafting this to be the best in the industry.
If you’re interested in applying for my 30-min consultation, press the button below. You will be redirected to an online application form and once you’ve done that, you can schedule the free 30-min call. You will then be given some tasks to do before we meet!
Once I launch the program, I might start charging for the Initial Consultation, I might only take a couple of appointments weekly — I don’t know yet. Do yourself a favour and grab this opportunity while it lasts. There’s nothing to lose, you’ll get to learn some new things (I actually take you through a fitness assessment. If you’re wondering how it works — you should really apply for my call. ;)) and begin your journey in fitness on the right foot.
Learning and more learning. I seek to learn for the best and from the best, and I want to deliver the best to all of you. Don’t worry, the free content and blog posts will still be around and I am not planning to stop anytime soon. For the interest of this site, I’m working on:
- A message board where all of us will come around to share and connect. I’ve got some really awesome readers here and I would love to have all of you be in one place and know each other. :)
- A new free eBook guide! Still working on it, and it should be ready within the next couple of weeks!
Learn to love yourself and what you do
If there’s one thing that always keeps me going and on my foot is that I really really REALLY love what I’m doing. I love meeting new people from all around the world and reading your comments and emails! Have I not taken that first nerve-wrecking step in quitting my day job and pursuing what I love, I would still be stuck in rut.
Sometimes all it takes is some faith and believe that you can do what you want to do. Sometimes it’s more than that. But at the paramount of it all, the most important step is really to take that first step.
Learning new things every day is surreal and I’m enjoying the process. But learning to love yourself and what you do is the heart of it all.
Take a step back and ask yourself if what you’re doing everyday matters to you. Find a mentor and learn from the best. And the rest will fall into place.
Now, here’s for you: tell me, by leaving a comment below, what have you done recently that has challenged you? What do you do to love yourself and what you’re doing? Do own a business or a blog too? Feel free to brag! And also — is there anything I can help you with? If you’ve stuck around for a while, what do you think of the new layout and logo? Please let me know!
Once again, I’m taking appointments for a FREE 30-min fitness consultation starting from the 24th of March onwards and as my beloved readers, you have first priority. It’s free, just click on the button below. (Also if you know anyone who might find this useful, please share!)
Thank you all of you for everything. I appreciate you.
